Hawaii Packing Party

Exciting news... I'm flying to Kona, Hawaii tomorrow morning! After a long day of working (on a sunday!), it's time to pack!
Packing is by far my least favorite thing to do before a trip, but it can also be one of the most exciting tasks lol (confusing, I know).
I hate it because it takes so much time and I always worry that I'm forgetting something. But I love it because it's like playing dress up to get ready for the exciting and relaxing days to come!
So, in anticipation for my trip I've put together a little list of essential things to pack for anyone going to Kona or Hawaii in general!

For me, this year has been all about bright pink (as you've probably seen in my other posts). This Mara Hoffman swimsuit was an absolute no-brainer for the trip and I just know that I'm going to living in it over the next ten days! YES, I SAID TEN DAYS! *Oooohhh, Aaaahhh*
To compliment my divine one piece, I'm pairing it with Kendra Scott bright pink earrings
(Did I mention I like pink?!).
I'm also a sucker for cover ups and wanted something sheer but still comfortable to wear around the house. This crochet cover-up is the perfect combination of the two!
As you all know by now, I'm a bag lady (some may say crazy, but I say passionate) lol.
So I had to add in this adorable pink straw tote from MOOS Shop.
Btw, I took this bad boy to mexico and it holds EVERYTHING you could possibly need andddddd then some!
Finally, to round it all out I'm packing some Sunbum SPF 30 sunscreen. I know I can get sunscreen when I'm there but Sunbum smells amazing (none of that "sweaty beach" smell) AND most importantly it never makes me break out! Huge plus!

Of course, I will be posting pictures throughout my trip and giving y'all the low down on the best places to visit in Kona. Did I mention we are staying right across from a local poke shack?! Let's just say I'll be getting my year's worth of poke in ten days! YUM!

Hope you all enjoy this Island Essentials packing list!
See you when I'm tan with mai tai's in hand(s)!
(Yes, two lol)

Love,
Char

DIY Oatmeal Face Mask

Attention! Please ignore the not-so-adorable chunks on my face. Instead, focus on how amazing this Oatmeal mask is for your skin!
Okay people, this is a "twofer" (two for one lol) face mask that has the amazing combo of not only hydrating, but also exfoliating your skin at the same time!
I mean seriously... best of both worlds!
The oatmeal is great to help exfoliate those darn dry skin cells all while helping to get rid of blemishes, hydrate your skin, and it also acts as an anti-inflammatory! (Whoa)
And don't get me started on the honey, honey!!
Honey and banana are chalk full of amazing components that help to clean and brighten your already beautiful skin!
Picture

Lets get started!

Step 1: Slice up the banana and mush away with a fork
Step 2: Add the raw oats and honey
Step 3: Stand over the sink lol
(seriously it's a little messy)
Step 4: Rub the yummy mixture into your skin and let sit for 20 min
Step 5: Wash away and admire your gorgeous, hydrated, glowing skin!

P.S. Any leftovers should be made into a congratulatory porridge :)

Special thanks to Maris Magazine on this project!

Graduation!

I don't go to many graduations, but holy cow, they are so much fun!
(Minus the whole "sitting for hours in an auditorium" part, lol)

So, mid last week I jumped on a plane to meet up with my best friends, Bre and Sam, in Boise, Idaho for the Boise State University 2016 Graduation! Last time Sam and I visited, we drove 12 long hours from San Jose. Upon our arrival, we vowed to never do that again lol.

However, one thing I absolutely love about BSU's campus are all the brick buildings. In SF, we definitely don't have enough brick, so this was a most welcomed change of scenery!
Picture
Saturday we had perfect and sunny "graduation" weather and had the best time out on the lawn after the ceremony with all the grads and their families!
I took this opportunity to note the various graduation outfits women were wearing. I saw a lot of dresses, big hats, and wedges. I noticed women were either really dressed up or really casual, so I was quite happy with my "in the middle" outfit.

I wanted a cute, casual, but put-together look and I think I hit the nail on the head with this off the shoulder spring look!
Picture
Since it's almost summer I tend to lean towards lighter colors because they brighten up any outfit and mainly because they make me feel so happy! The off the shoulder top was an absolute no brainer for cute/casual because it's an easy feminine piece - almost like a dress. Instead of wedges, I went for a chunky heeled sandal to mix it up!
Of course I had to throw on my new favorite bright pink lipstick from YSL for a little pop of color!

Here are a few other cute off the shoulder tops that you can use to create your own cute and casual grad look!

To end the afternoon, we all headed over to Cinder Wines in Garden City where Bre's grad party was being held! The wine was absolutely amazing!
(I bought 6 bottles of their Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec blend!)
I definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Boise!
Picture
The fun weekend consisted of reminiscing over memories from our last visit freshman year, copious amounts of alcohol (lol) and of course, plenty of goodbyes. These college grads really know how to celebrate their last weekend in Boise!

Now I'm back home in busy SF. There's only one week left till my birthday (almost feeling 22!) and then two weeks until we all go to Kona, Hawaii for Bre's grad present!!

P.S. Congratulations to Bre for graduating from BSU with a degree in Business Marketing and thank you for having the tripod (Bre, Sam and Char) tag along for the ride!
We love you!

SURPRISE!! I'm on the Summer 2016 cover of My Wedding magazine!!
This was hands down one of my favorite cover shoots to date! The gorgeous gown, stunning set, and outstanding crew made it a day to remember.
I mean who doesn't love wearing a wedding dress and playing bride?!

The breathtaking floral arrangements and wedding set created by Precious & Blooming and Charmed Events Group took me to another world!
It's days like this one that I absolutely love my job. I get to play dress up in a wedding gown, have my hair and makeup professionally done, and I get to hangout with a great model groom and bridesmaid! The best part about these shoots are the relationships you make. Before the shoot, I had never met the models or crew, but by the end of the day we were laughing and joking like it was a reunion of sorts!

Mixing Trends

I'm not one to follow trends, BUT I can't handle how chic off the shoulder tops are!
I AM OBSESSED! (Seriously, I need/will do a future post on just "OTS" outfits!)

And don't get me started on bandanas!
Around the neck, tied on a handbag, or worn as a headband - I think they are absolutely  adorable!
Funny thought.... Whenever I wear this top/bandana combo I feel a little railroad-ish due to the blue stripes but whatevs, I ADORE it!

With these two amazing trends, why wouldn't you mix them?!!

Ever since I was a little girl I loved pink and (somewhat) hated blue, but as I've gotten older I have found a soft spot for blue and all of it's wonderful shades!
Lately I've really been into mixing shades in my outfits more than mixing colors. It's a fun twist on the traditional "matchy-matchy".
