Photo by Maris Berkowitz It's Tuesday and let's be real, after a long weekend of fun (copious amount of alcohol consumption) we all need a little break. Why not treat yourself with a quick DIY face mask! I love a DIY face mask because you already have the ingredients in your fridge! So, today I've partnered with Maris Magazine to bring you a super easy egg white-based mask! Egg whites are amazing for your skin because of its many nutrients! Potassium, magnesium, and protein in egg whites help to hydrate, repair and promote wrinkle free skin. With the addition of orange juice and turmeric powder this face mask gets even better! Turmeric powder has skin lightening properties that evens out skin tones, erasing discoloration and acne scars. The orange juice helps to tone as well! What's more is the directions are as simple as the ingredients! Whisk together the orange juice and egg whites till frothy. Blend in the turmeric and apply to clean skin. I recommend laying down to help keep the mask from dripping on the floor. After 15 minutes, cleanse with warm water and embrace your beautiful bright skin! Enjoy! Love, Char It's Date Night and the feeling is right in this perfect polka dot dress from SheIn! When planning an outfit for going out in San Francisco there are a couple key points to keep in mind. First and foremost, SF can go from an amazing sunny day to a "why are we in Alaska" level of cold. So needless to say this dress with sleeves will be your best friend! Secondly, you always need a jacket! Even if you don't think you need one, bring one. That's why I paired this fun dress with a thick leather jacket, not only to even out the feminine polka dots but also keep me warm! Let me start off by saying, I love that this is a full look with almost nothing added. This dress does all the work for you when trying to figure out what to wear. I've never been a huge fan of polka dots (Sorry, Minnie Mouse) but this dress stood out to me on so many levels. First of all, the polka dots are approachable and not in your face. This is due to not only the perfect navy color of the dots, but also that the dots aren't perfect, they have a sort of un-even rustic feel which lends to the soft and sweet silhouette of the dress. Secondly, this dress is a perfect length for SF! The Hi-low shows just enough thigh to be sexy but long enough in the back to be comfortable. And let's not forget the OTS...As you all know by now, I'm a firm believer of a good off-the-shoulder piece and this just adds to my excitement! Photo by Maris Berkowitz Attention! Please ignore the not-so-adorable chunks on my face. Instead, focus on how amazing this Oatmeal mask is for your skin! Okay people, this is a "twofer" (two for one lol) face mask that has the amazing combo of not only hydrating, but also exfoliating your skin at the same time! I mean seriously... best of both worlds! The oatmeal is great to help exfoliate those darn dry skin cells all while helping to get rid of blemishes, hydrate your skin, and it also acts as an anti-inflammatory! (Whoa) And don't get me started on the honey, honey!! Honey and banana are chalk full of amazing components that help to clean and brighten your already beautiful skin! Lets get started! Step 1: Slice up the banana and mush away with a fork Step 2: Add the raw oats and honey Step 3: Stand over the sink lol (seriously it's a little messy) Step 4: Rub the yummy mixture into your skin and let sit for 20 min Step 5: Wash away and admire your gorgeous, hydrated, glowing skin! P.S. Any leftovers should be made into a congratulatory porridge :) Special thanks to Maris Magazine on this project! Have another face mask you love? Tell me below! Love, Char I don't go to many graduations, but holy cow, they are so much fun! (Minus the whole "sitting for hours in an auditorium" part, lol) So, mid last week I jumped on a plane to meet up with my best friends, Bre and Sam, in Boise, Idaho for the Boise State University 2016 Graduation! Last time Sam and I visited, we drove 12 long hours from San Jose. Upon our arrival, we vowed to never do that again lol. However, one thing I absolutely love about BSU's campus are all the brick buildings. In SF, we definitely don't have enough brick, so this was a most welcomed change of scenery! Saturday we had perfect and sunny "graduation" weather and had the best time out on the lawn after the ceremony with all the grads and their families! I took this opportunity to note the various graduation outfits women were wearing. I saw a lot of dresses, big hats, and wedges. I noticed women were either really dressed up or really casual, so I was quite happy with my "in the middle" outfit. I wanted a cute, casual, but put-together look and I think I hit the nail on the head with this off the shoulder spring look! Since it's almost summer I tend to lean towards lighter colors because they brighten up any outfit and mainly because they make me feel so happy! The off the shoulder top was an absolute no brainer for cute/casual because it's an easy feminine piece - almost like a dress. Instead of wedges, I went for a chunky heeled sandal to mix it up! Of course I had to throw on my new favorite bright pink lipstick from YSL for a little pop of color! Here are a few other cute off the shoulder tops that you can use to create your own cute and casual grad look! (Click the images to go to website!) To end the afternoon, we all headed over to Cinder Wines in Garden City where Bre's grad party was being held! The wine was absolutely amazing! (I bought 6 bottles of their Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec blend!) I definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Boise! The fun weekend consisted of reminiscing over memories from our last visit freshman year, copious amounts of alcohol (lol) and of course, plenty of goodbyes. These college grads really know how to celebrate their last weekend in Boise!
Now I'm back home in busy SF. There's only one week left till my birthday (almost feeling 22!) and then two weeks until we all go to Kona, Hawaii for Bre's grad present!! P.S. Congratulations to Bre for graduating from BSU with a degree in Business Marketing and thank you for having the tripod (Bre, Sam and Char) tag along for the ride! We love you! Tell me below! Love, Char I'm back again with the DIY organic face mask series! I partnered with Maris Magazine to bring you another amazing face mask! This time, better and more moisturizing! I absolutely adore face masks because they are an easy (once a week) fix to help keep problem areas in check. and believe me, I've got enough problem areas to keep this series going strong lol! This edition's mask features two main ingredients - the cooling power of cucumbers, which really helps to make the mask a relaxing and beneficial experience, and yogurt, which utilizes the natural power of lactic acid to exfoliate your skin, making it smooth and moisturized. Yogurt is also a great, natural acne remedy. Who knew there were so many great uses for yogurt?! Now let's get started... Tips to Know -Peel the cucumber -Blend the cucumber until you get a paste-like consistency -Add some yummy plain yogurt -Spread all over your gorgeous face -Add some cucumbers to your eyes for dramatic effect -Rinse off with warm water and bask in your beauty! Finally, top off your relaxing day with a delicious cucumber salad, made with your leftover ingredients and take a stroll outside to show off your beautiful skin! Enjoy! Have any DIY ideas?
